Emergencies can be terrifying. The key to being confident in handling each emergency patient is multifaceted. Attendees will be able to set up small areas that are equipped with basic tools, recognize an emergent patient, stabilize different types of emergencies, and effectively communicate with their team, the client, and transfer hospital.

Meet the Instructor

Mylissa Fitzpatrick, LVT, CVPP, VTS (ECC)

Mylissa is an ER learning and development specialist at a specialty hospital in Upstate NY.  Previously, she was the lead veterinary technician for a local ER for 17 years and worked with a board certified surgeon for 3 years.   

She found her passion and got the bug for ER medicine almost immediately after graduation from SUNY Canton in 2004. Mylissa continued her education and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from SUNY Albany. Continuing to work and better serve her patients she obtained her pain management certification becoming a CVPP in 2015.  

She then obtained her VTS (ECC) in 2018.  She loves to share her knowledge and experiences with other professionals and was recognized as the top presenter for the 2018 IVECCS for her case report on the management of OA for IVAPM. 

She strives to always learn, share her knowledge, and advocate for her patients.  In her spare time, she loves to play the ukulele, tend to her goats”Yonka” & “Yarrow”, play with her dogs,” Zoey” & “Fitz”, and hang out at home with her daughter and husband.
