This lecture focuses on the clinical approach, methods of decontamination, diagnostics and treatment, and specific human medication exposures in veterinary medicine. Emphasis will include stabilizing the cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurologic systems.

Meet the Instructor
Rebecca Negretti, LVT, CVT, VTS (ECC)
Becky is a LVT, CVT, and VTS (ECC), with nearly two decades of experience in veterinary medicine. After earning her bachelor’s degree in 2002, Becky made a career change and followed her passion for veterinary care. She joined a small animal practice in St Louis in 2007, gaining experience in general practice, exotics, and emergency medicine and completed her AAS in Veterinary Technology in 2010.
She then returned to her hometown of Chicago, working extensively in emergency and critical care, as well as internal medicine and neurology. In 2015, Becky joined the University of Florida’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where she worked in the ER and ICU. Two years later, she achieved her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care. She is deeply committed to education and in 2021 became a Clinical Instructor at City College’s Veterinary Technician Program, where she was recognized by students as “Most Valuable Technician” while at UF and served as the SCNAVTA advisor during her time at City College.
In April 2023, Becky relocated to Washington and joined VEG ER for Pets shortly after as a veterinary technician, VTS mentor, and subject matter expert. In June 2025, Becky was elected as Membership Chair for the Washington State Association of Veterinary Technicians. Her professional interests include toxicology, pharmacology, technician wellness, and patient advocacy.
Outside of work, Becky enjoys yoga, running, reading, karaoke, and spending quality time with her husband and their beloved fur-babies.
