Meet the Instructors:
Danielle Thomas & Ryanne Heiny!
Danielle Thomas, CVT, LVT, VTS (ECC)
Danielle has been a licensed technician since 2010 after graduating from Johnson College in Scranton, PA. After school she joined a multi speciality practice in Pennsylvania where I fell in love with emergency medicine and hasn't left. She loves the fast paced nature of emergency along with the variety of cases that come in. In her career Danielle has worked in many multiple speciality practices in Pennsylvania, New York and now Florida.
In 2022 she obtained her VTS in ECC. Her favorite part of emergency medicine is admitting patients when they are really sick, helping them get better, then walking them out to their family ready to continue their healing at home. She also loves teaching new techs and assistants emergency medicine and encouraging them to continue to grow in the field. She's always wanting them to learn more and strives to keep them in the field by taking the the time to teach them everything from basic triage up to advanced procedures.
When not pulling long days at work, Danielle spends time with her husband and daughter doing family activities and reading. She is RECOVER rescuer certified and a member of FVMA, VECCS, and AVECCTN.
Want to contact Danielle? She's available to lecture at conferences or your hospital. Reach out to her at: Dmthomas789@gmail.com

Meet the Instructors
Ryanne Heiny, CVT, VTS (SAIM)
Ryanne is a small animal internal
medicine veterinary technician specialist currently working as the lead
technician for her department at a multi-specialty and emergency hospital in
Portland, OR.
Ryanne obtained her Associate of Arts from Daytona State College in 2013 before starting in the Internal Medicine department at a large multi-specialty hospital as an uncredentialed technician in Maitland, FL. While working there, she earned her Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College in 2017. During her time with this hospital, Ryanne worked as the lead technician for 20+ internal medicine technicians and assistants, making her specific goal advancement of knowledge for her team. She eventually obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2022.
Ryanne was also a reviewer and contributor to the Gender Identity Global Bill of Rights for the Veterinary Profession. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2010, initially as a kennel assistant in general practice, and worked her way up to an uncredentialed technician before moving into specialty medicine. She started in internal medicine initially and fell in love with the puzzle of putting together pathophysiology and disease processes with client-reported symptoms and objective data that is so unique to this specialty.
Ryanne moved across the country to the Pacific Northwest in 2022 with her husband, four cats, and a geriatric German Shorthaired Pointer (who has since passed at the ripe old age of 16!) Since then, she has welcomed a small human into the zoo, and with the little spare time she has left, she enjoys reading, video gaming, crocheting, gardening, and baking.
Ryanne currently serves as the Small Animal Internal Medicine Director at Large for the Academy of Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians (AIMVT) with the goal of encouraging an environment of constant learning and improved recognition of VTS capabilities.
