Meet the Instructor
Lucy Sumners, BA, AAS, RVT, CVT, LVT, VTS (ECC)
Hello, my name is Lucy Sumners, and I am Co-Lead Technician and Veterinary Technician Specialist at Timberline Veterinary Emergency and Specialty in Seattle, Washington.
I previously worked at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital as a daytime shift lead/VTS mentor and the ICU lead for the Open-Heart Program. I achieved my VTS (ECC) in 2018 and have provided my expertise and knowledge in helping care for my patients, along with teaching fellow green and seasoned technicians, vet students, rotating interns, and ECC residents.
Teaching is the favorite part of my job and I love being able to leave a mark on those that come through my ICU. I have a special interest in cardiology, sepsis, coagulopathies, anything to do with the kidney, extracorporeal therapies, and mechanical ventilation.
In my spare time, you'll find me curled up reading with a cup of tea as my cats run amok, out on a hike with my dog or planning my next stateside or overseas adventure. My recent move to Seattle from Florida has soothed the mountain loving part of my soul. I am a self-professed foodie and welcome any recommendations for restaurants, breweries, cideries, and wineries.
