This course covers common challenges in the recovery phase: pain, dysphoria, emergence delirium, anxiety and medication/environmental factors we can choose to mitigate these challenges. It will discuss how we can think critically and consider a plan individualized to the patient, considering their signalment and history.

Emily Geisler Ayres, BS, LVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia)
Emily is a tenured Licensed Veterinary Technician from New York. She has distinguished herself in the veterinary community by specializing exclusively in surgery and anesthesia since joining the veterinary field in 2015.
In 2021, her dedication to advancing anesthesia practice
In her spare time, Emily loves hiking and baking, as well as (trying) to cuddle with her old but very energetic pit bull. She currently lives on a farm with cows and is always happy to share pictures of the most recent addition to the farm. Emily is excited to connect with you and discuss all things anesthesia and surgery!

culminated in earning her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in Anesthesia & Analgesia. As a member of the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia & Analgesia (AVTAA), Emily remains passionate about supporting her peers and elevating the profession.
Her contributions include publications, speaking engagements, and an authored textbook chapter.
