Meet the Instructor
Michelle M. Capps, BA, CVT, VTS (Surgery)
Michelle M. Capps graduated from Camden County College's Veterinary Technology program in Blackwood, New Jersey, and obtained her certification in 2013. Additionally, Michelle attended Rowan University, where she was an honors graduate and received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a minor in Biological Sciences.
Michelle has been affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Ryan Veterinary Hospital since 2012 and serves as the surgery supervisor. Her professional interests include Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), feline renal transplantation, and ureteral surgery. She also enjoys lecturing, assisting with data collection for veterinary research, and writing for publication.
Michelle earned her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) credentials in Surgery in 2023 and has since guided candidates applying to the Academy of Veterinary Surgical Technicians (AVST) through the mentorship program.She is currently serving her first term on the AVST executive board.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her daughter (Kiera), son (Cason), and Candy, her American Bully. She loves to travel and frequents the Jersey Shore beaches whenever possible in the summer. She is a proud cheer mom, a Disney nerd, a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Denver Nuggets, and Dallas Cowboys, and a volunteer for the Philly Bully Team.
