AAFP/AAHA Feline Vaccine Guidelines 2020

In this course we will be covering the latest updates on vaccinating our feline friends in the clinic. We will be defining lifestage vaccinations, feline populations and what vaccinations are necessary to prevent disease as well as going over core and non-core vaccinations. At the end of the course, you will be able to understand the risks vs. benefits of vaccination for each cat population and how to determine what vaccination is best for each individual case seen in the clinic.

Meet the Instructor
Ellen M. Carozza, LVT, VTS (CP-Feline)
Internationally recognized for her feline advocacy and her no-nonsense, practical teaching skills in feline medicine and nursing, Ellen has been practicing as a licensed veterinary technician since 1996 and solely in feline medicine since 2002. Her passions are the feline neonate and pediatric patient as well as feline advocacy in practice.
She runs the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Foundation (criticalkittens.org), where the underdogs of veterinary patients seen in practice receive the advanced medical care they deserve. As part of this process, she shares this knowledge with the veterinary community by creating patient care protocols for use in practice by hosting her two Facebook Groups, Feline Veterinary Technicians Unite and the Veterinary Neonate and Pediatric Support Group where you can find over 5k members in each group sharing their stories and information on the cats they care for in their practices.
Ellen recently received the FETCH DVM360 Innovator of the Year, Paraprofessional Award for 2023 for her advances in veterinary technology and charitable contributions in feline medicine. As one of the organizing members for the latest AVTCP specilaty, Clinical Practice- Feline, she is one of three people to currently hold the elite title as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Feline Practice.
Ellen’s goal is to always be a part of the process to help Empower the people who work with cats, Enhance the experience for the cats and owners at the practices they entrust their pet’s care at and Evolve and share the methods on how we work with cats for the veterinary technician in practice.
